Children Of God Orphanage

Our vision is to build a world where every child can grow up healthy, protected from harm and educated, so they can reach their full potential. Every day we're working to make this vision a reality. No matter who they are or where they are born, we reach out to the most vulnerable children wherever and whenever they need us.

From our formation in the aftermath of WWII, to the challenges children face today, we join with partners, governments, parents and children themselves to change the lives of whole generations of children.

To help children on worldwide scale, we rely on generous donations from our supporters as our work is not funded from the UN budget.

Give a monthly donation today and you can help us save lives, protect childhoods and give children the chance to go to school every month.

The Kids Of COGO

Collins

Collins is a boy who comes from a small village on the out skirts of Kpando. His father must work all day from sun up to sun down and Collins was left in the care of his uncle who is blind. Collins was born in 2007 and currently attends class 1 at one of the local schools in Kpando. He loves to ‘do numbers’ and have Aunties and Uncles read him story books. He also loves to play the ‘chase the Aunties around the house’ game with Small Christopher and Kwadzo. He is a shy boy who can sometimes be very stubborn but he has a great heart and if reminded will help with the chores around the house. He spoke no English when he arrived at COGO but is learning fast!

Junior

My name is Justice Jr. and I am six years old. I come from Gbefi-hoeme. Before I came to the home I was living with my grandmother. She comes to visit a lot and sometimes I go and stay with her on school vacations. I have dark skin, I like to think I am tall but really I am average height. I can be very shy but when I am playing with my friends I can be very loud.

I came to the home on the 29th of May 2007. My favorite food is woakye (rice and beans) and toffee. I go to Gabi LA primary school, I am in primary class 3. When I grow up I want to be a teacher. After school I like to help Tassi in the kitchen because she is in the kitchen by herself. I like to play ball with Big Emma, or go play ball at the sports stadium with all the boys too. I like to do reading, writing and math or have the Volunteers read to me. I really want to learn how to ride the bike we have. My best friends here in the home are Elikplim, Israel and Emma

Lebene

My name is Bani Bridget, I am 16 years old. The name of my hometown is Ve-demi in the Volta Region of Ghana. I am very tall and dark in complexion. At age 12 my parents took sick and COGO has been my home since. I now attend St. Agatha’s Boarding J.S.S. My favorite subjects are English and Science. My favorite food is rice and beans and my favorite fruits are oranges and apples. I like to watch movies and I love soccer. I like to help people who need help and my favorite friends in the home are Minoa and Rosemond.

Charity

Charity is my name. I came from Nkunya Asutsere and I am 15 years old. I am dark in complexion and 5 foot 3 inches tall. My birthday is on the 29th of November. n future I want to be a doctor because I like to help sick people and to relieve them of their pain. I am very helpful person and do my best to help others when they ask for my help. I love to take care of Christopher and I wash him at night with warm water. I do this because it is what my mother did for me and it will make Christopher’s joints not pain him and allow him to get a sound sleep.

CHILDREN’S GUIDE

The children are aware of the basic rules of the home and are expected to help in the general cleaning of the home with the older ones supporting the caregivers to care for the younger ones.

The older ones especially the girls also help the cooks during the weekends to cook as a way of preparing them for the future. The children are aware of the services expected to receive from the home which are the aims of the home. The following are the details.

  1. To provide them with a home and take care of their physical, emotional and psychological needs.
  2. To provide them with a healthy food for proper growth and development.
  3. To provide for them quality education to unearth their potentials.
  4. To provide for them quality medical care for proper development devoid of deficiency.
  5. To train them morally in order to fit into the larger society.
  6. To protect them from discrimination, violence, abuse and oppression.
  7. To protect them from exploitative labour.
  8. To help them in forming their own views and also to express opinions, to listened to and to participate in decisions affecting their own wellbeing.
